The Verdict
A gentle, visually lush adventure-comedy about self-discovery with essentially no identity messaging. The film is clean across every axis — its themes are about ambition and living boldly, not politics. WokeMeter reads this as a near-zero case.
What the AI Flagged
Category explanations and examples behind the assessment. Internal category scores and the exact calculation are private; external sources appear below when available.
Identity Swaps
No established characters are race- or gender-swapped; this is an original adaptation of a short story with original characters.
Girlboss & Male Demotion
Walter is the male protagonist on a heroic journey; no male demotion or anti-male messaging.
LGBTQ+ / Trans / Non-Binary Content
No LGBTQ+, trans, or non-binary characters or themes present.
DEI Casting
Cast is largely conventional with a diverse love interest, fitting the modern setting naturally; no quota-driven feel.
Preachiness
The film carries an inspirational 'live life fully' theme but never sermonizes about identity or politics.
- LIFE magazine motto about seeing the world
- Walter's daydream-to-action arc
Anti-Masculinity / Anti-West
No framing of masculinity, whiteness, or the West as toxic; if anything it celebrates adventurous self-actualization.
Source Betrayal
It expands greatly on Thurber's short story, but the changes are creative/expansive, not identity- or agenda-driven.
- Added global adventure plotline not in original story
