The Verdict
The Last Ship is a patriotic, action-heavy military survival drama with virtually no identity messaging. Its cast is diverse in a way that fits a modern naval setting, and while it features competent women, it never diminishes its male hero or sermonizes. Clean across nearly all axes.

Girlboss & Male Demotion
Capable female characters like Dr. Rachel Scott and naval officers, but the male lead Capt. Chandler is heroic and respected; no anti-male messaging.

DEI Casting
A diverse naval crew, which is plausible for a modern U.S. military setting rather than a quota that contradicts lore.

Anti-Masculinity / Anti-West
Pro-military, traditionally heroic tone; no anti-West or anti-masculinity framing.
