The Verdict
A harmless SpongeBob spin-off built around Sandy Cheeks, a character who has been a female Texan squirrel scientist since the show's debut. Featuring a competent female lead is not woke, and the film contains no identity swaps, LGBTQ+ messaging, or preachiness. This is clean kids' entertainment.
What the AI Flagged
Category explanations and examples behind the assessment. Internal category scores and the exact calculation are private; external sources appear below when available.
Identity Swaps
No established characters are race or gender swapped; Sandy has always been a female squirrel.
Girlboss & Male Demotion
Sandy is a competent female lead, but this is consistent with her long-established character and SpongeBob is not mocked or vilified to elevate her.
- Sandy as the scientific hero who saves Bikini Bottom
- SpongeBob as her loyal sidekick
LGBTQ+ / Trans / Non-Binary Content
No LGBTQ+, trans, or non-binary themes or characters present.
DEI Casting
An ensemble of talking sea creatures and animals; nothing that overrides lore or reads as a checkbox.
Preachiness
Light family-friendly themes of friendship and ingenuity; no sermonizing or activist messaging.
Anti-Masculinity / Anti-West
No framing of masculinity, the West, or tradition as toxic.
Source Betrayal
A spin-off centering Sandy, an existing core character; consistent with the franchise rather than an identity-driven rewrite.
- Sandy and SpongeBob travel to her home state of Texas, matching her established backstory
