The Verdict
*Prisoner* (1979) is an Australian women's-prison soap opera that, notably for its time, included lesbian characters and relationships as part of its dramatic fabric. Beyond that LGBTQ+ presence, it is a character-driven melodrama with no identity swaps, quota casting, or preachy ideology. Its female-centered cast stems naturally from the prison setting rather than any girlboss messaging.

- Themes of prison conditions and rehabilitation surface within storylines
Anti-Masculinity / Anti-West
