The Verdict
Luca is a warm, original Pixar coming-of-age film with essentially no heavy-handed identity messaging. Its themes of friendship and accepting outsiders are universal, though some viewers read a subtle coming-out allegory into the sea-monster premise — the film itself keeps everything platonic and unpreachy. Clean on nearly every axis.
