The Verdict
Forrest Gump is a sentimental, apolitical period drama with zero identity messaging. Its brushes with historical and social topics are filtered through the protagonist's earnest naivety rather than any activist agenda. Clean across the board.

Category explanations and examples behind the assessment. Internal category scores and the exact calculation are private; external sources appear below when available.

DEI Casting
Casting reflects the historical settings depicted; no quota-driven choices.
Preachiness

- Forrest's deadpan narration of historical events
- Lt. Dan's arc with disability handled as character drama
Anti-Masculinity / Anti-West
No anti-masculine or anti-West framing; arguably nostalgic and sentimental.
Source Betrayal
Adapted from a novel with major changes, but none identity- or agenda-driven.
